Gunmetal (Joined 03-27-01)
Aside from Gunmetal’s fairly well renown playing skill, what impressed me the most about Alain is his straight up attitude. Getting to meet him at kfc0n 2 made this choice a very easy one. His smooth persona and friendly style quickly earned friendship with all of us. We’re very glad to have you aboard Alain =)

Spooge, Specter, and Monki (Merged 04-01-01)
These guys work together at Hypersonic PC (http://www.hypersonic-pc.com) and merged their clan, the Jerky Boys with us to help with our Tribes 2 efforts. Working with them so far has been nothing but smooth sailing and getting to chill with them at kfc0n 2 and 3 definitely helped with the choice to work together.

Bosstone (Joined 04-27-01)
We’ve only worked with him a little bit and are so impressed with his playing style and attitude that we’ve already asked him on board our Tribes 2 roster. He’s also a Doom 2 veteran and plays Quake 3 with an RA3 clan.
TDM is Dead, Long Live CTF! Posted 4.27.2001 @ 5:57PM by brassmonkey
We’ve been thinking about this for some time now. The Quake 3 Team Deathmatch community seems to be at a turning point. It’s not going away anytime soon in my opinion, it’s just transitioning from the spotlight as THE pro game of choice. Although Counter Strike has taken a dominant reign over the pro gaming scene, Quake 3 still has a few tricks left in it’s sleeve. Recently the TDM community is showing some life with the return of old clans like ID (Immanent Demise) and Track 5 and with the birth of new clans like Team Rocket. A lot of KFC members secretly play CTF, whether it’s for another clan or just on pickups. Discovering this and personally enjoying the thrill of close CTF games, we voted to give it a shot. The summer doesn’t hold much for TDM at the moment in regards to tournaments though we will continue to play ladders and pickups (probably a decent amount at that). Quake 3 CTF has always been a slowly growing community and still continues to be. BCTFL and CAL (Cyberathlete Amateur League) has a Quake 3 CTF tournament going on now which will hopefully happen again soon for us to participate. There’s a few tournaments poping up for CTF which we will be preparing for!

Also, Frag5 is still undecided in regards to type of team game so, hopefully we'll be ready for both!

Special thanks to [44]Minotaur from True Force (www.trueforce.com) for helping us get started with CTF! =)
Quake 3 Update for the month Posted 4.27.2001 @ 5:33PM by brassmonkey
The last month in Quake 3 for KFC started off a little shaky. We lost a tight game to Omniscient for EQL and where surprised by a new team called Jobber Patrol for Badlands. After that we had some other competitive games for OGL and Teamplay. The game vs. Omniscient put us in a bit of a slump, we led the scores a majority of the first two games only to lose by a few at the end. They were all well played games non the less. Then the game vs. Jobber Patrol was a surprise. We never got a chance to really practice those new maps for Badlands and JP completely took advantage of that, good games. That game knocked us to 2nd place in Tier 3 for the Badlands season =(.

Here’s a wrap up for the Month

EQL - Loss 0-3 to Omniscient 03-25-01
BL - Loss 0-3 to Jobber Patrol 03-28-01
OGL - Win 2-0 to Recreational Malice 04-10-01
TP - Win 2-0 to Star69 04-10-01
OGL - Win 2-0 to Digial Annihilation 04-16-01

Tribes 2 KFC Wants You! Posted 4.27.2001 @ 5:23PM by brassmonkey
Kung Fu Clan will be attempting a Tribes 2 division. Even with the hype about Quake 3 going downhill, we’re still going to play Quake 3 because we love it so much. Most of us in KFC who have tried Counter Strike liked the game, but not as much as Quake 3. It’s a good game, but it just doesn’t have the feel and individual play Quake 3 has to offer. Duck shoot camp …. run jump shoot camp …… just doesn’t do it for most of us fast action gamers.

In the process of this choice to go Tribes 2 we needed to look for members. During kfc0n 2 we met some good guys from NY who wanted to also play Tribes 2. The guys from the Jerky Boys as a matter of fact is dropping Quake 3 all together to play Tribes 2. With similar interests in Tribes 2 and locality, they are now merged with our Tribes 2 Division. The roster so far looks like this::

Former Jerky Boys:
Spooge, Monki, and Specter
From Kung Fu Clan:
Brassmonkey, Boombastic, Ginzberg, Gunmetal, and Nookie
New recruits:
Bosstone and possibly Carde and Doomsday (from D|S)

We're still looking for a few good members so email me if you're interested or stop by our irc channel at irc.enterthegame.com #kfc.

Also, by some kind of miracle, I managed to sign us up for the first place spot on the Team Warfare ladder for Tribes 2. For those who don’t know, they’re running a ladder based league with a monthly cash prize of 2000$ for the team in first place every month. And it starts just a few day from now and we’re in first place! Although the game is not ready to be played via tournaments yet, they may still dish out the cash to us to fulfill their promise. The TWL also has not decided on roster sizes or team sizes for that matter in the game. They originally suggested 16 which in my opinion is too much. We’re hoping they settle with 12 which will be nice for four, three man groups (base / flag defense and base / flag offense). For more information check out http://www.teamwarfare.com. If you get a chance, go into the forums and suggest 12 person teams!
Newspro and Forums! Posted 4.27.2001 @ 1:34PM by brassmonkey
In effort to keep our news up to date, I've implemented a dynamic news engine that will allow more Kung Fu Clan members to contribute news. I also incorporated with this the ability to post comments! This way we can hear what everyone else has to say about well, what we have to say =).

Our forums are now active as well. I took the lazy way out and used a service =). I was going to use Ultimate Bulletin Board but, I figured why spend the cash when there's services that do it for free. For those who are curious we are using http://www.gamersx.com/.
